For nearly a decade, Sam and Crystal Wegner have walked a long and difficult road through Crystal’s battle with metastatic breast cancer. Since her diagnosis in 2015, they’ve chosen to see every step not as a tragedy, but as a ministry—an opportunity to point others to the goodness and faithfulness of God even in suffering.

Last year, while continuing to care for Crystal, Sam unexpectedly lost his job. During that season of uncertainty, God led him to write The Weight of the Wait, a book about finding purpose and hope when life feels heavy. Through its pages and his speaking opportunities, Sam is helping others understand that God uses trials not to crush us, but to draw us closer to Himself and shape our hearts through the waiting.

As Sam and Crystal continue to embrace their journey as a calling, God is opening new doors for them to minister to others. As her health allows, Crystal faithfully encourages those who are also walking through pain—through phone calls, texts, social media, and face-to-face conversations. Sam has been using this time to write, speak, and serve, starting an inspirational blog, appearing on podcasts, and participating in short-term missions. Together, they invest in young adults in their local church—opening their home, sharing their story, and helping the next generation learn what it means to trust God in every season of life.
